Latest updates on both upcoming Ecuador Flower Shows

Traditionally, the bi-annual flower show in Ecuador is organized by the great people at HPP Exhibitions Holland. This year, however, the members of the Ecuadorian flower growers, Expoflores, decided to organize the show themselves.

At this point, there are less than 3 months to go until the inaugural event, and the organizers are hoping for 1800 visitors to attend this event.

Expo Flor Ecuador 2018 will take place from September 19-21, 2018 at the Metropolitan Convention Center of Quito. This is one of the largest international events of its kind, and Expoflores is proud to announce that Expo Flor Ecuador 2018 will be the inaugural event of the new Convention Center.

During this year, participants will be able to contact 115 exhibitors: flower growers, breeders, sales brokers, freight forwarders, airlines, and suppliers. Additionally, the organizers have made their best efforts to create a personalized experience for every participant from their arrival to Quito by means of exclusive services such as: safe transportation, first class accommodation, and gourmet food. They are aiming to deliver VIP services to visitors from September 15 to 23, 2018. We were given some updates by the organizers who sent us some pictures of the brand-new building, and it’s sure looking great.

The organizers are working hard to make your visit an unforgettable one. Book through their website to receive exclusive rates with Quito’s best Hotels and receive special discounts at some of the best restaurants in town.

Regarding the Metropolitan Convention Center itself, it will boost the business development, tourism and productivity of Quito. Here are some details of the venue:

  • Two 2,500 square meters exhibition halls, each
  • A multifunctional auditorium with capacity for 800 people
  • One 2,502.80 square meters events hall
  • Several workrooms

Additionally, HPP will still be organizing their own bi-annual flower show – AGRIFLOR – during the same dates in October 2018. According to Jasper van Dijk from HPP Exhibitions Holland, their flower show will take place at the Exhibition Center “Centro de Exposiciones Quito”, Ecuador. This will be the 20th edition of AGRIFLOR; can you believe it? We have been attending the AGRIFLOR show since 1994 and our industry is truly blessed to have HPP organizing their Quito shows.

HPP is planning to have their show with about 75 growers exhibiting. Since these 75 growers are likely not members of Expoflores, they would typically not have the opportunity to be a part of the Ecuadorian flower show. Jasper told us: “Agriflor is a unique opportunity for international buyers to source flowers from flower growers who will, although in the business for quite a while, exhibit for the first time. Almost 75 growers have signed up to date already and the number is growing. They are looking forward to their first time experience of exhibiting and offering their products to the visiting international buyers.“.

On other show news, the International Floriculture Expo is moving to Miami, Florida for the 2019 event. The organizers are hoping that bringing the show back to Miami, coupled with the fact that many of their customers are located in Florida, it will make for an amazing event in 2019. The IFE show has been in Chicago the last 4 years, where expenses are much higher versus Miami, so the organizers are hoping they will be attracting more buyers. The show will be held in Miami from June 18-20, 2019.
